Effects of Four Electronic Text Presentation Formats on Reading Efficiency and Comprehension

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS:

Simply engaging students in 40 appropriately leveled reading lessons resulted in significant reading proficiency improvements. However, it was also found that different text presentation formats affected the learning process to measurable degrees. Students who used the Guided Window text presentation format consistently achieved the largest gains across all reading proficiency measures (comprehension, silent reading efficiency and oral reading rate).
