Reading Plus® offers effective practice to address and correct visual and perceptual inefficiencies that hinder reading development. Component programs provide effective practice to address and correct those inefficiencies by having students build left-to-right visual coordination, perceptual accuracy, and visual memory.
The Reading Plus® system provides essential structure to silent reading by scaffolding content, rate, repetition intensity, and varied lesson formats. This unique scaffolded approach offers individualized reading experiences that develop fluency in silent reading and improve reading comprehension.
Reading Plus® vocabulary and context analysis activities complement the system’s scaffolded reading activities, and are dynamically assigned based on individual student needs. Academic vocabulary words are repeated across lessons and levels to improve word recognition through repetition.
Ongoing formative assessments determine skill assignments at appropriate difficulty levels, and ensure each student receives explicit comprehension skill instruction in skill areas in which he or she is deficient. Explicit teaching guidelines assist teachers in organizing small-group or whole-group direct instruction activities.
“The reading fluency of our top readers, which through the testing wasn't as high as it could be, just zoomed in Reading Plus."
