READING PLUS® WINS 2010 AEP DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT—DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION, GRADES 9-12
6.08.2010 - WINOOSKI, VT
Reading Plus®, the premier web-based silent reading intervention, today was awarded a 2010 Distinguished Achievement Award (DAA) in the category of Professional Development-Differentiated Instruction for grades 9-12. The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) presented the DAA at its annual awards banquet held in Washington, DC, a black-tie gala attended by more than 200 educational publishing industry professionals.
For more than 40 years, AEP Awards have recognized outstanding resources for teaching and learning. According to the association, “DAAs recognize the year's top educational products in four categories: Curriculum, Periodicals, Professional Development, and Technology & New Media.”
The AEP states that winners in the Differentiated Instruction category are, “products that are designed to take into account students’ varying background knowledge, readiness, language, preferences in learning, and interests. They provide a model or process to aid in teaching and learning for students of differing abilities in the same class.”
Reading Plus® CEO Mark Taylor accepted the award, stating, “We were pleased when we learned that Reading Plus® was a DAA finalist for grades 6-8, grades 9-12, and adults in the Differentiated Instruction category. Reading Plus® is proven effective at helping a wide range of struggling secondary and post-secondary students to achieve silent reading proficiency. Receiving this DAA is an honor and privilege for our company.”
